Biking Support Does Happen!
Today is the big day!  Finally, after years of planning and several months of construction, the bicycle bridge over the Rio Grande -- the Gail Ryba Memorial Bridge -- will be opening today, Monday 30-August.  The bridge, named after BikeABQ's founder, has been long in coming; after many delays in search of funding, it was finally funded by federal stimulus dollars and allowed to proceed.

Gail passed away earlier this year after a long battle with cancer.  Please come and honor her memory by attending the ribbon cutting ceremony or come ride the bridge.

Where:  On the Bosque trail, on the east side of the Rio Grande, just north of I-40, where the bridge meets the trail.  If you are not coming from the bike path, it is at the east end of Gabaldon Place.

Taos Pump Track
Building the Taos Pump Track at the Taos Youth & Family Center went well last year.  If you haven't, you should drop by and check it out.  Be sure and bring a bike with stiff or no suspension.

Check the Photo Gallery for pictures and send us some new ones.  Maybe at some point we can do a TCC "pump event" over there to get people introduced to pumping.

Rumble Strips
The League of American Bicyclists sent an alert to wake up state DOT's to the importance of this issue to cyclists, and got 1200 response from members.  This does seem to be an issue for most clubs across the country.  The issue isn't going away, and clubs need to be alert to any rumble strips being added in their areas, and to be in touch with their district DOT offices to make sure that those offices know which are the most valued cycling roads.  The League's latest blog post on rumble strips is HERE.

Team F.I.Taos Weekly Road Rides
Team F.I.Taos has weekly road rides and wants to let Taos Cycle Club members know that you are welcome to join us!  All you will need to do is sign a waiver, if you are not a Team member.

P.S.  We will start on time so be ready to go...
